'We all have a God-shaped vacuum in our lives that we try to fill with other things, but nothing quite simply fits the bill'
life often surprises you, or rather God often surprises you with what he provides, because simply we as humans are simply unable to fathom the possibilities and imagine what He has in store for us. all we think about is the opportunity cost, or how we (gripe about) have to do stuff because we have already made prior arrangements before this, or we have obligations to fill, or simply because, you know you just have to do it. i remember at the start of the weekend i was looking at my lineup of events in fear (blatantly honestly) because of the sheer number of commitments that i had made off the cuff. playing for guitar twice. leading ag (which i had never done before). birthday celebrations and all that. but having only exp one (and a half. AG[and afters] was stupendous) day(s) of it. i'm just amazed who i've been led to talk. share. and gain much insight from. not people that i have never seen, be not mistaken. just people i never expected.
meaning and purpose was just one kinda topic. to prepare and present at least. yet alone to ponder and actually want to apply the lessons. the opening line of this entry came from this discussion, how we try to seek contentment in the things that we do today. acknowledgment of the quote is not needed [you can consult me to find out the name of this great squire] but yeah. it really did strike me. fighting with the issue and concept of emptiness and filling it up. and just needing to find something to do the job. maybe.
it was right in front of me all along.
1 Tim 6:6-10
For now there is great gain in godliness with contentment, for nothing is brought out of the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world. But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content. But those that desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is the root of all evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.
back to the same old issues, same old questions. same old, same old.
just with a brand new perspective.
we all need to break out of our own little molds, at one point or another.
note to self: dare to break out, reach out, seek out. and prepare for what's to come ahead. many things are important, but only some make the final cut, at this point in time.
